My original idea was a Mad Men theme for Jack's room. I started there by using some mid-century modern accessories, but I found it difficult to keep the theme since children's books don't exactly evoke Don Draper.
I went a little further and added some whismy with kitschy toys and art.
The walls are painted a light grey and silver, and we used art pieces that Matt has collected over the years.
My favorite piece is the day bed - I've been drooling over it for a year!
Here's a glimpse into Baby Jack's Personal Pied-à-terre. I call it this because it's about the same size as a studio apartment in NYC. Clearly I'm jealous, as my room growing up was not nearly as awesome. And an added bonus pic of Jack wearing some shades in our birthing class....
Daybed from West Elm - for inevitable naps |
IKEA lamp and vintage telephone |
Fun accessories from Urban Outfitters |
IKEA book shelf and a corner view |
I made this mobile from key chains I found at Urban Outfitters and spray painted the matchbox cars. The letters are also from Urban Outfitters. |
I wanted more texture to the letters, so instead of hanging them directly on the wall I leaned them on a shelf. |
The adorable rhino is from Z Gallerie and I added a bow to give him some character |
A collection of children's books, martini glasses, porcelain dogs and classic toys |

Love his room! My son has a couch in his room so I can take naps when needed. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenni! It is SO necessary for a place to nap in a baby's room - if you're lucky enough to have the space for it. Sometimes I find myself on the ground dozing off too haha

ReplyDeleteSo cool that you went with a Mad Men theme! Very original and classy for a baby boy. =) Love the little cars on the mobile and touches like the vintage phone--and you're so right that the letters look better on the shelf! You do such a great job adding texture and height to walls!
